Where the flavors of our land are the protagonists!

Where Parnonas's green edge meets the turquoise waters of the sea, there is Myrtoon restaurant, since 2005. It is a restaurant on the beach with Mediterranean cuisine and traditional Greek recipes.

Here emphasis is given in highlighting the flavors of our cooked meals, in making the vegetables of the region and the pelagic fish absolute protagonists. It is our pleasure and aim that the visitor feels satisfied not only by the meal, but by the serenity of this place as well.

Tsakonian tradition

The visitor may admire the architecture of Leonidio and the surrounding villages’ manors even in our days. Tsakonia is known for its olives, citrus fruits and abundant vegetables.

The area

Tsakonia is a special area with indigenous inhabitants, perhaps descendants of the Dorians, who kept, as they were isolated, the Doric dialect (Tsakonic), the proud spirit of freedom and their customs.

Dialect

Tsaconic is what has survived of ancient Laconic and the only idiom coming from ancient Greek dialects which has remained alive in Greece.

Architecture

Tsakonia developed its own civilization. Leonidio and the surrounding region are known for their picturesque Tsakonian architecture, which is unique in Arkadia.

Tsakonian eggplant

The typical local product is the famous Tsakonian eggplant, which is being farmed for many decades now in a traditional way and with a lot of care from the local producers.

Traditional Tsaconian Weaving Art

The traditional Tsaconian weaving art began in late eighteenth and early nineteenth century - a rug made in 1890 at the Eloni Monastery verifies this - clearly for practical reasons and for earning a living.
